JULIA VIRAT

GUIDE DE HAUTE MONTAGNE

Aiguille du Tour (english version)

John is this kind of guy who looked his whole life after the others.

He decided last year that time had come to travel the world and try new experiences…

That’s how he found himself bungee-jumping in Australia, hiking in the Grand Canyon, surfing big waves on some islands, and finally he arrived in Chamonix with the idea of climbing Mont Blanc.

Unfortunately for him, the normal route through the Gouter gully had been closed for two weeks.

So we decided together to go to another summit, and Aiguille du Tour was a very good option though.

On the first day, we hiked to the hut Albert 1er, and we then went to the glacier to practice hiking with crampons and ice-axe to get prepared for the next morning.

After a short but good night, we left the hut and began hiking with the night. Colors during the sunrise were perfect !

There were many people going to the top of Aiguille du Tour on that day, so we had to manage with crowds !

The ascent is mainly made of glacier hiking and scrambling up the final part.

The summit was reached within four hours, and we had plenty of time up there to enjoy the view.

Going down took us hours, but the good experience John had on the mountain that day gave him a smile for all the descent !

Practicing with crampons with a view on Chardonnet.

Come on, John!

Beautiful sunset from the hut.

Aiguille Verte.

Early in the morning with fullmoon!

John looks happy to be here!

Glacier de Trient is welcoming us with a warm morning sun!!!

View on Chardonnet and Aiguille d'Argentière.

Yay, summit!!!!!!! With Mont Blanc on the background.

Be careful John, the bridge on the crevasse is melting...

For the next time...
